Summer School

Know-How / Show-How Summer School is an international  program for creative thinking and design processes, which will be held from June 29 till July 10, 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The program is meant to support the development of young emerging designers and creatives interested in working in interdisciplinary manner with international professionals, educators and experts from the european’s creative and educational community.

Through workshops, exhibitions, exploratory studies and lectures various questions and topics will be examined. How is our behavior shaped by our local environment? How to work together, and create a beneficial effect on society? Can we define a new role for artists and designers of the present and the future? A main objective of the project is to create an international network for collaboration between designers and other professionals, engaged with social and urban issues.

The program will be carried by a representative group of design and art professionals from all over Europe with extensive experience in education – Frans Oosterhof (NL), Lotte van Gelder (NL), Matthias Kreutze (D) & Jens Schildt (SE), Elisa van Joolen (NL), Ruby Hoette (AUS/NL), and Henk Groenendijk (NL). In close collaboration with local Bulgarian professionals and experts Creative shower, Transformatory Lab and Poststudio, the tutors will challenge the participants to think in a new way about the process of design.

What:
– 4 five-days workshops;– 
1 one-day workshop in Design Thinking

;– 5 tutors from international Design and Art Academies (The Gerrit Rietveld Academie Amsterdam, The Royal Academy of Fine Arts The Hague, Goldsmith University of London and Konstfack University in Stockholm);– 

12 days program with practical work, lectures and screenings, conversation, field trips and inspiration, creative atmosphere and presentations;

For Whom:
Аll non-conventional thinkers, authors, professionals or students, active in the field of design, graphic design, photography, illustration, publishing, fashion, performing arts, architecture, theoretical research to explore their creative potential in a multi-faceted way.

Each participant will be able to follow three workshops in total (2 of 5-days and 1 of 1-day in sequential order).

The spoken language will be English.

Where:
Transformatory Lab and Studio Projectirane will host the KHSH 2015 edition. The location is a satellite building Behind the Sofia University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (bulevard “Hristo Smirnenski” 1, Sofia).

Tuition fee:
The tuition fee for participation is 200 euro (must be paid after the selection of the candidates).
It covers:– participation in 3 Workshops;– materials for the Workshops;– bread, water, coffee and tea;– two dinners, one lunch and one breakfast;– certificate for completing the program;– very inspiring atmosphere, field trips, Bulgarian spirit and more;

The travel cost, accommodation and food are not covered in the fee (the minimum expenses a day + acomodation in Bulgaria are 25 euro).
